A comprehensive knowledge of ground conditions is now
required as a pre-cursor to an increasing number of statutorily permitted development
processes, if only to help constrain development risk.
Increasingly, this knowledge is
also being seen as an accountable method of determining the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pollution load,
so forming an active part of the ‘polluter pays’ principle.
Cost-effective site investigation, combined with appropriately
sourced data collection, is essential. Our geological
and site investigations team is able to make considerable
practical experience available in respect of :-
Desk-top studies:–
Using published data obtained from the BGS, Environment Agency or other private holders.
Risk analysis:–
Using knowledge of likely ground conditions, reviewed in cases where data is
limited
to reflect findings as the investigation proceeds. |

|
Investigation design:–
Preparation of standard Bills of Quantities,
rig selection and management protocols, against
which
to secure quotations.
Contract management:–
Ensuring compliance and value for money.
Contract supervision:–
Of trial-pitting, trenching, cable percussive
boring and rotary (open-hole and cored) drilling
programs.
Sampling and In-situ Testing:–
Using nationally accepted selection, data/core
logging/recording and in-situ preparation.
Report preparation:–
Including factual presentations and interpretative
reporting.
