• Liaise with existing and new clients to understand the extent of their permitting requirements. 

• Submit fully detailed environmental permit applications with all necessary supporting documentation to Regulators across the UK. 

• Interact with Regulators to manage permit applications to the stage of ‘Duly Made’ and up to the issue of Permit to the client 

• Collaborate with client regional operational management teams to create and improve management systems and reporting on their behalf. 

• Arrange for the timely preparation and delivery of specialist reports. 

• Audit and review clients’ existing permits to ensure full regulatory compliance. 

• Organize and oversee required inspections and tests relating to permit requirements. 

• Report on issues of non-compliance and develop corrective actions or mitigations. 

• Create documents and reports to assist with the permitting process when needed. 

• Work closely with other professionals to manage the creation of specialist reports and applications when required. 

 

 

• Experience working within the waste management and recycling sector is essential. 

• Previous experience of working within the environmental permitting sector generally. 

• WAMITAB/COTC qualifications would be advantageous. 

• Full driving licence (minimum 2 years) and use of a car 

 

 

• Scientific / Environmental related degree 

• Hold (or close to) professional membership of a recognised institution e.g. CIWM, CEnv 

• Extensive knowledge of environmental regulation, its development and implementation 

• Minimum 7 to 10 years working experience

• Perform structural design calculations for steel, concrete, timber and masonry following British Standards/Euro Codes. 

• Adhere to internal QMS procedures ensuring compliance with internal design checking protocols. 

• Coordinate with professionals and contractors, manage time for timely project delivery. 

• Work independently on smaller projects or as part of a team on larger schemes. 

• Ensure commercial delivery of projects, meeting deadlines and budgets. 

• Collaborate with other Egniol Consulting offices and disciplines. 

• Supervise trial hole investigations for refurbishment projects and undertake visual structural inspections. 

• Mentore Junior Engineers. 

• Liaise with Clients and design team members to meet client briefs, attending meetings as required. 

• Engage in business development activities. 

• Contribute to fee proposals and Tender submissions. 

• Assist in project management, ensuring commercial delivery, and meeting timescales and budgets. 

 

 

• Solid knowledge of all relevant British Standards and Design Codes. 

• Ability to produce designs underpinned by strong engineering principles. 

• Proficient in technical design packages such as Tekla, CADS and Tedds. 

• Proficient in AutoCAD would be a bonus 

• Possess a full driving licence and have access to a car for business use 

 

 

• Completion of Degree in relevant Engineering subject 

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in similar engineering consultancy 

• Working towards and close to achieving membership of relevant Professional Institution (e.g., Chartered Member of ICE or IStructE).

• Working knowledge of design standards in accordance with British Standards, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Sewerage Sector Guidance, etc to successfully deliver projects for our clients. 

• Implement internal QMS procedures and ensure all designs comply with the company’s internal checking protocols.

• Good IT skills including a basic understanding of AutoCAD and Word

• Responsible to the Company Directors for the financial, technical and project management control of projects. 

• Responsible for seeking new business opportunities and growing workload levels from existing and new clients. 

• Implement internal QMS procedures and ensure all designs comply with the company’s internal checking protocols. 

• When necessary, develop new QMS procedures to further support the current requirements of the business. 

• Assist the Company Directors in optimising the overall performance of the business and ensuring the strategic targets of the company are met. 

• Preparation of fee proposals for new projects. 

• Undertake coordination with other professionals as appropriate, including contractors. 

• Liaise with clients and other members of the design team to ensure designs meet the client brief including attendance at design team meetings / site meetings as required. 

• Mentoring of less experienced members of the Geo-Environmental engineering teams. 

 

 

• Good knowledge of all relevant British Standards and Design Codes and an understanding of Eurocode 7. 

• Designs will be produced by hand calculation or using Design Software/Excel as appropriate to the nature and magnitude of the project and to underpin this you will be expected to have a sound grasp of Engineering Principles and/or a good understanding of Contaminated Land Risk Assessment (ideally skilled in both geotechnical and contaminated land). 

• Excellent IT skills including a basic understanding of AutoCAD and a good understanding of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word. 

• Have a sound understanding of software including SlopeW (or similar), OpenGround etc. 

• QGIS preferred skill 

• Proficient in foundation design and recommendations, earthworks, slope stability, and contaminated land risk assessment including remediation, DQRA etc. A bias towards geotechnical or contaminated land is likely, however a good knowledge of both disciplines is required. 

• Full driving licence and use of a car. 

• Willingness to work on site, including nights away, as needed. 

 

 

• Completion of Degree in relevant Engineering subject such as Geology and Environmental Science. 

• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in similar engineering consultancy. 

• Working towards and close to achieving Chartered Member of relevant Professional Institution e.g. British Geological Society, ICE etc. 

• CAT & Genny competence trained 

• CSCS Card

Our Sheffield office enjoy its easily accessible location next to the open spaces of the Botanical Gardens and yet close to the city centre. 

 

 

Undertake structural design calculations in a variety of materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry in accordance with British Standards / Euro Codes to successfully deliver projects for our clients. You will be required to produce, and coordinate scheme designs then develop them to tender and construction. 

Work closely with other members of the team, in particular structural CAD technicians, in the preparation of working general arrangement and detail drawings. In some instances drafting services will need to be undertaken by structural engineers. 

Undertake coordination with other professionals as appropriate, including Contractors, and organise your time to ensure timely delivery of projects. 

Collaborative working with other Egniol offices. 

In addition to design tasks, you may be required to supervise trial hole investigations and undertake visual structural inspections. 

Liaise with Clients and other members of the design team to ensure designs meet the Client brief, including attendance at design team meetings / site meetings as required.
