What we do

A project is temporary in that it has a defined beginning and end in time, and therefore defined scope and resources.

And a project is unique in that it is not a routine operation, but a specific set of operations designed to accomplish a singular goal. So a project team often includes people who don’t usually work together, often from different organisations and across multiple geographies.

Project management, then, is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to the activities that are needed to meet the project requirements. And each project, large or small, must be expertly managed to deliver the on-time, on-budget results, safely and to the required quality standards.
At Egniol our Project Managers understand all of this, bringing the necessary focus and shape to the individual objectives, resources and schedule of each project. Organised, passionate and goal oriented, our Project Managers are at hand from project initiation, through project planning, execution and close. Comfortable with change and complexity in dynamic environments, they can shift readily between the big picture and the small-but-crucial details, knowing when to concentrate on each.

They have a broad and flexible toolkit of techniques for resolving complex, interdependent activities into tasks and sub-tasks that are documented, monitored and controlled. They adapt their approach to the context and constraints of each project, knowing that no one size can fit all the variety of projects. They are continually improving their own and their teams’ skills through lessons-learned reviews at project completion.

Case Studies

Cryogenic Energy Storage Facility Decommissioning and Dismantling
Egniol was appointed by our long term client, Viridor Waste Management, to provide project management and contract administration support on the decommissioning and dismantling of a 5MW cryogenic energy storage facility. The plant had been built and successfully operated under a government supported demonstration scheme to prove the novel technology prior to large scale deployment. The decommissioning and dismantling work was complex, time critical and the plant was co-located on an operational Viridor site, which meant that the work had to be undertaken in a way that minimised disruption to Viridor’s operations.
We were engaged as Viridor’s representative to ensure that all aspects of the works were carefully planned and executed, from pre-commencement through to completion. We worked in detail with the Principal Contractor on the project programme and risk register, managing internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that the works were undertaken safely and in accordance with the agreed risk assessments and method statements, and managing the change process through the appropriate contractual mechanisms. We were delighted to be part of the team that delivered this key project successfully.
Pilsworth South Landfill Infrastructure Engineering
Egniol was appointed by our long term client, Viridor Waste Management, to design and project manage a range of new infrastructure projects at its Pilsworth South Landfill in Manchester with a value in excess of £3m. The site is a key facility for Viridor and one of the largest remaining landfills in the north west of England and the works needed to be delivered seamlessly in order to avoid disruption to the ongoing site operations.

Our project management specialists were engaged to deliver the extension of existing hazardous and a non-hazardous landfill containment cells, the capping of completed landfill cells and upgrade of critical surface water drainage infrastructure at the site.
Egniol was appointed as the NEC 4 Project Manager and Supervisor and we were responsible for the design and specification of the works, the procurement of the construction contractor, administration of the construction contract and Construction Quality Assurance of all aspects of the construction works on site.

Working closely with the construction contractor, our site team provided effective management of the project programme and risk register, ensuring that any events with the potential to cause delay or impact on the project budget were identified early and rigorously addressed through the agreed change management processes. The project was delivered on time and within budget.
